This is Oskar. Or Oskie as he’s affectionately known. He was around 28 and a half (if you believe the human calculation of canine ageing) when he was painted.
We found him in a locked suitcase in a lost-property office. How he got in there and threw away the key is a complete mystery.
The other thing to say is, when I decided to paint his portrait, would he sit still? No, he was an absolute bugger!
I’d have been better off putting him back in the suitcase. But then, who wants a portrait of a suitcase (with a dog inside).
